finished! it took about 8 hours to tear the tranny apart and clean all the parts;

another 5 hours to do the shift kit/valve body modifications;

and about 12 hours to re-assemble it.

I'd do it again, (I'll build an AOD next) but I wouldn't recommend it for the faint of heart; there are a lot of parts inside a transmission and a lot that can go wrong.
