Two manual transfer cases or transmissions on a wooden shop floor

The Mazda M5OD transmission next to the Mitsubishi FM146.
You can tell just by it's sheer bulk the M5OD is a bigger stronger tranny. The FM146 was removed after 170K because of a chattering noise in 5th gear. Found the rear output shaft bearing with a spalled inner race (unusual? I always heard these trannies like to eat input shaft bearings, not the output shaft one).
