The 2012 Mustang Boss 302 can be fitted with a new aftermarket TracKey that provides full race calibration and two-stage launch control, all without threatening the factory warranty. Ford has created a dual-path powertrain control module that allows a racing application to exist alongside a street application in the same car. The TracKey PCM control software is accessed using a specially programmed vehicle key - red for racing and black for street performance.

The TracKey PCM alters more than 200 engine management parameters to increase torque and throttle response, preserve brakes when decelerating and many other track-friendly modifications. There's also a two-stage launch control feature "similar to that used on the Cobra Jet racecar," which lets the driver set the tachometer needle to a desired launch rpm for better acceleration and vehicle control from a standing start.
