UPDATE: I finally beat the truth out of my father. He came over a hill early one morning to find the entire width of the 2-lane highway blocked by cattle walking the same direction he was going. So he picked the smallest heifer to aim for as he laid into the ABS. He barely hit her leg, but it did this.
