The 2005 Toyota 4Runner is a fourth-generation model built on the N210 platform (2003-2009). Standard power came from a 4.0L 1GR-FE V6 rated at 245 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 282 lb-ft of torque, while an optional 4.7L 2UZ-FE V8 gained VVT-i for 2005 and rose to 270 horsepower and 330 lb-ft. The change for 2005 was the V6 upgrade from a four-speed to a five-speed automatic, matching the transmission the V8 already used. The 4Runner was sold only as a four-door SUV in SR5, Sport Edition, and Limited trims.
