The 2008 Toyota 4Runner is a fourth-generation model (N210 platform) and a carryover year within the 2006-2009 facelifted series. The base 4.0L 1GR-FE V6 was rated at 236 horsepower at 5,200 rpm and 266 lb-ft of torque under the revised SAE standard adopted for 2007, and an optional 4.7L 2UZ-FE V8 produced 260 horsepower and 306 lb-ft. Both engines drove through a five-speed automatic transmission. The 4Runner continued as a four-door SUV in SR5, Sport Edition, and Limited trims.
