1962 Toyota Land Cruiser Specs & Photos
The 1962 Toyota Land Cruiser reached American buyers as the FJ40, the short-wheelbase 40-series that had replaced the 20-series in 1960. Its F-series 3.9-liter overhead-valve inline-six was rated at 125 horsepower gross, driving through a three-speed manual gearbox and the two-speed transfer case that the 40-series had introduced to the line. Riding a 90-inch wheelbase with solid axles and leaf springs, the Land Cruiser stood as Toyota's best-selling US model, a position it held from 1961 until the mid-1960s.
