The 2003 Volkswagen Beetle means two different cars: the New Beetle sold in the US, and the final air-cooled Type 1, which ended production in Puebla, Mexico on July 30, 2003 with the 3,000-unit Ultima Edicion run. For the US New Beetle, 2003 brought the first factory Beetle convertible since 1979, plus the 180 hp Turbo S at the top of the range. Base cars kept the 115 hp 2.0 liter, with the 1.8T and TDI in between.
