The 1990 Chevrolet C/K 1500 introduced the 454 SS, a regular-cab short-bed C1500 with the 7.4-liter big-block V8 rated at 230 horsepower and 385 lb-ft, offered only in Onyx Black with a garnet red interior for its debut year. The SS paired the big-block with a three-speed automatic, quicker-ratio steering, and Bilstein shocks. The rest of the line carried over, with Silverado still the top trim.
