The 1978 Ford F-100 brought rectangular headlamps to the higher trims while the base Custom kept round lamps. The 300-cubic-inch six remained standard, with the 302, 351M, and 400 V8s as options. The 1978 Ford F-100 continued as the lighter half-ton below the F-150 in the "Dentside" sixth generation.
