The 2005 Ford Focus received a major North American refresh with new front and rear styling and a renamed range: ZX3 three-door, ZX4 sedan, ZX5 five-door, and ZXW wagon. The SPI and Zetec engines gave way to a 2.0-liter Duratec 20 rated at 136 horsepower, while the new ZX4 ST sedan used a 151-horsepower 2.3-liter Duratec 23. Europe moved to an all-new second-generation Focus, but North America retained the updated C170 platform.
