The 1979 Ford Ranchero was the final model year of the nameplate. The engine lineup narrowed to two V8s, the 302 and the 351M, with the 400 dropped, paired with a single three-speed automatic transmission, all rated SAE net. Ford ended Ranchero production after 1979 when the LTD II platform was discontinued, closing out a 1957-1979 run that totaled 508,355 units across all generations.
