The 1990 Ford Taurus carried the first-generation sedan, wagon, and SHO lineup forward. The standard engines were the 2.5 HSC inline-four, the pushrod Vulcan 3.0 V6, and the Essex 3.8 V6. The SHO continued with its Yamaha-built 3.0 dual-overhead-cam V6 rated at 220 horsepower and a five-speed manual, remaining the only manual-transmission Taurus.
