The 2001 Ford Taurus continued the fourth-generation sedan and wagon with the pushrod Vulcan 3.0 V6 at 155 horsepower and the dual-overhead-cam Duratec 3.0 V6. Both used a four-speed automatic and front-wheel drive, with the Vulcan standard on the LX, SE, and SES and the Duratec on the SEL. The Mercury Sable continued as the badge-engineered sibling.
