The 1973 Ford Torino was a carryover of the third-generation body updated with a federally mandated 5 mph front bumper and a revised eggcrate grille. Engine choices continued with the 250 cu in (4.1L) inline-six and the 302, 351, 400, and 429 cu in V8s, all rated in SAE net horsepower, with 1973 the final year for the 429 big-block. The series comprised the base Torino, the Gran Torino, and the Gran Torino Sport, offered as two-door hardtops and SportsRoof fastbacks, four-door pillared hardtops, and wagons. Transmissions were three-speed and four-speed manuals and the SelectShift Cruise-O-Matic automatic.
