Harley-Davidson Super Glide
1972 Harley-Davidson Super Glide Specs & Photos
The 1972 Harley-Davidson Super Glide (FX) belonged to the first FX generation that Willie G. Davidson created in 1971 by pairing the big-twin FL frame and rear end with the narrower XL Sportster front fork. It used the 74 cubic inch (1200cc) Shovelhead V-twin with a 4-speed transmission and kick start only, as the electric-start FXE did not arrive until 1974. For 1972 the fiberglass boat-tail rear fender and seat unit fitted to the 1971 FX was dropped in favor of a conventional rear fender. The engine used points ignition and dry-sump lubrication.
