The 1976 Harley-Davidson Super Glide was offered as the kick-start FX and the electric-start FXE, both powered by the 74 cubic inch (1200cc) Shovelhead V-twin with a 4-speed transmission and chain final drive. For the United States Bicentennial, Harley-Davidson offered a Liberty Edition trim with commemorative paint and graphics. The bike remained a mid-1970s carryover of the FX design introduced in 1971, retaining points ignition and dry-sump lubrication.
