1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee Specs & Photos
The 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee launched the ZJ generation, introduced when Chrysler president Bob Lutz drove one up the steps of Cobo Hall and through a plate glass window at the January 1992 Detroit auto show. Built at the new Jefferson North Assembly Plant in Detroit, the unibody ZJ rode on Quadra-Coil live axle suspension and was the first SUV sold with a standard driver-side airbag. The 4.0-liter inline six made 190 horsepower, with a 220 horsepower 5.2-liter Magnum V8 added during the model year. Trims ran from base and Laredo through Limited and the one-year Grand Wagoneer, which paired simulated woodgrain with the V8 as standard.
