1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee Specs & Photos
The 1999 Jeep Grand Cherokee debuted the WJ generation, which Jeep said shared only 127 parts with the outgoing ZJ. The new 4.7-liter PowerTech SOHC V8 rated at 235 horsepower replaced the pushrod 5.2 and 5.9 Magnum engines, joined by the returning 4.0-liter inline six at 195 horsepower. The V8 used the new 45RFE automatic, and the optional Quadra-Drive system combined Quadra-Trac II with Vari-Lok progressive locking axles front and rear. Trims were Laredo and Limited, both built at Jefferson North in Detroit.
