1986 Jeep Wagoneer Specs & Photos
The 1986 Jeep Wagoneer is a compact, unibody four-door wagon on the XJ platform, positioned as the upscale version of the Jeep Cherokee. Its 2.5L AMC inline-four used throttle-body fuel injection and was rated at 117 hp net and 135 lb-ft, while a GM-sourced 2.8L V6 produced 115 hp and an optional 2.1L Renault turbodiesel made 85 hp. Transmissions included four-speed and five-speed manuals and a three-speed automatic, with Command-Trac part-time or Selec-Trac full-time four-wheel drive. The AMC 4.0L inline-six had not yet arrived (it debuted for 1987), leaving these three engines for the woodgrain-trimmed Wagoneer Limited and its siblings.
