The 1995 Mazda MX-6 marked the midpoint of the second generation, still built at AutoAlliance in Flat Rock, Michigan next to the Ford Probe. The RS kept the 118 horsepower FS 2.0-liter four and the LS kept the 164 horsepower KL-DE 2.5-liter V6. A five-speed manual was standard with both engines, with a four-speed automatic optional.
