The 1997 Mazda MX-6 closed out the nameplate in the United States after a ten-year run across two generations. The final cars kept the 118 horsepower FS 2.0-liter four and the 164 horsepower KL-DE 2.5-liter V6, and the Ford Probe platform-mate was discontinued the same year. No direct successor followed.
