Although I never wash the outside, I try to keep the engine & underside clean. But it had been a couple of years, so I rinsed it out. If the engine runs rough after hosing or driving in heavy rain, dry the inside of the distributor cap & add silicone grease, as Ford recommends:



That's dilute (~50%) Purple Power and Dawn in the spray bottle. I also keep dilute Dawn & Windex in my windshield washer tank.
