This document is a dimensioned blueprint/template for fabricating a homemade checking gauge from #16 gauge sheet steel. The gauge is a rectangular piece measuring 1 3/4 inches wide by 2 7/8 inches tall, with a notch cut into one side. The notch is 3/4 inch tall and located 1 1/16 inches from the bottom edge of the gauge. The critical measurement is the depth of the notch, which varies depending on the component being checked: for Midland-Ross units the slot depth is 0.980–0.995 inch; for Mustang, Cougar, and Falcon applications it is 0.970–0.980 inch; and for Bendix units it is 0.980–0.995 inch. A reader can use this drawing to cut their own gauge from sheet steel and check the applicable dimension (commonly a power brake booster pushrod height/adjustment measurement) against factory tolerances. The drawing gives no torque values, part numbers, or dates — it is purely a fabrication template with dimensional callouts and manufacturer-specific tolerance ranges.
