while driving home from work, my engine seized at a stop light out of nowhere. i did not realize there was no oil pressure as i was driving. turned out the rollpin on the distributor gear had sheared.
in a normal situation with a distributor, the gear shearing would mean no spark and the engine would instantly shut down. but because i am running the Explorer EFI which uses EDIS ignition, there is no distributor and this is just a cam synchronize for controlling fuel injection timing. it will still run without it being used. thus it ran it without oil pump working
