The roller turned out to be the only modification I needed to make. The square roller is an odd one in my mind but it seems to work. The size is right but it is thicker and won't enter the channel. I simply ground it to the right thickness and it slid right in after I cleaned the old goo out of the channel. I have since found out that I could have simply bought bolt in replacement rollers for a 73-79 and will try that next time.
