This 4.9L came out of a '95 F150 that was crashed so hard that all the accessory brackets on the front shattered, the engine ripped off its mounts, and the Y-pipe was crushed against the crossmember. But the engine itself seemed to be OK, so I bought it and found replacement parts from nearby junkers. I neglected to power up the donor truck's PSOM to see how many miles the engine has, but based on its condition, I estimate 60K at this point.

The old carb engine is on its way to a scrapyard. The strength of my garage joists & a single 3/8" screw eye surprised me.

I think this pic was taken around Aug. '98.

UPDATE: As of July 2018, this engine has ~860Kmi without rebuild (now in its 3rd chassis), and runs the same as it did just after this pic was taken.
