MGB & MGB GT Specifications, Capacities, Tyre Pressures & Maintenance Schedule
MGB factory General Data table listing fuel/cooling/sump/gearbox/axle capacities plus overall dimensions, track, wheelbase, turning circle and wheel/tyre sizes.
This is page 40 of an MGB owner's handbook, presenting general data specifications and a maintenance summary. The left column lists Capacities (10-gallon fuel tank, 12 gallons non-evaporative loss version, cooling system 9½ pints, sump 5¼ pints, gearbox 5¼ pints, gearbox with overdrive 6 pints, rear axle 1½ pints), Dimensions (length 12 ft 8½ in, width 4 ft 11 15/16 in, wheelbase 7 ft 7 in, turning circle 32 ft, toe-in 1/16 to 3/32 in), Wheel types (5J FH×14 press spoked, 4J×14 pressed disc, 4½J×14 60-spoke wire), tyre pressures for Tourer and GT with both 5·60—14S cross-ply and 155SR—14 radial-ply tyres, and kerbside/normal/maximum weights plus towing limits (1,680 lb max towing weight, 100 lb towbar hitch load). The right column is a Maintenance Intervals chart with three service levels: Lubrication Service every 3,000 miles/3 months, Service A every 6,000 miles/6 months, and Service B every 12,000 miles/12 months. Items are grouped under Lubrication, Engine, Ignition, Fuel System, Oscilloscope Check, Transmission, Steering and Suspension, Brakes, Electrical, and Exhaust/Fuel/Clutch Pipes, with daggers marking emission-related items and some items scheduled at 24,000-mile/24-month intervals. Weekly checks (oil, battery, coolant, washer, tyres) are also listed.
