The hydraulic clutch had a splined end that goes through the hole on the clutch arm. The splined end allows the clutch arm to go on in any direction, allowing for adjustment should it be needed while lining it up with the master cylinder arm.

I later found out that you CANNOT reuse these clutch arms. The splines are cut into them when they're tightened down on the rod and are weakened when removed. I tried to reuse it and when I pushed on the clutch, it twisted through the splines on the arm like butter, making it smooth inside.

Either buy a new one (not easy to find and around $50) or REMOVE THE CLUTCH ROD AND ARM IN ONE PIECE. Unbolt the entire pedal assembly from under the dash and turn it to the side so you can slide the rod and arm out together. Put it back in the same way. It may seem like a bit more work, but it's not that hard, and well worth it!
