Mercedes-Benz SL-Class
1974 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class Specs & Photos
The 1974 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class in the US was the 450 SL, a carryover year within the R107 generation that Mercedes sold in America as the 450 SL from 1973 to 1980. It used the 4.5L M117 V8 with a 3-speed automatic in a two-seat roadster supplied with a removable hardtop and a folding soft top. US cars carried the large federally mandated impact bumpers, and tightening emissions tuning left the 450 SL rated at roughly 190 hp (SAE net).
