The 2005 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class continued the R230 generation ahead of its 2006 facelift. The range comprised the SL500 with a 5.0L V8 (about 302 hp), the supercharged 5.4L SL55 AMG (about 493 hp), the twin-turbo 5.5L V12 SL600 (about 493 hp), and the SL65 AMG with a 6.0L twin-turbo V12 (about 604 hp). Every version used the Vario-roof retractable hardtop and an automatic transmission in a two-seat roadster body.
