The 1984 Mercedes-Benz SL-Class in North America was the 380 SL, the R107 roadster sold in the US from 1981 to 1985. It was powered by the 3.8L M116 V8 driving a 4-speed automatic, producing about 155 hp (SAE net), in a two-seat roadster body supplied with a removable hardtop. For 1984 Mercedes returned the 3.8L V8 to a double-row timing chain, correcting the single-row chain used on the 1981 to 1983 380 SL.
