The 2002 Subaru Impreza launched the second-generation GD sedan and GG wagon in the United States and brought the turbocharged WRX to America for the first time. The WRX's EJ205 2.0-liter turbocharged flat-four produced 227 horsepower and 217 lb-ft through a five-speed manual or optional four-speed automatic. Round bugeye headlights marked the 2002 cars, and the naturally aspirated 2.5RS sedan, 2.5TS Sport Wagon, and Outback Sport used a 165 horsepower 2.5-liter.
