The 2004 Subaru Impreza brought the WRX STI to the United States for the first time. The STI's EJ257 2.5-liter turbocharged flat-four was rated at 300 horsepower and 300 lb-ft, backed by a six-speed manual, a driver-controlled center differential, and Brembo brakes. The whole Impreza line adopted the blobeye facelift for 2004, while the standard WRX continued with its 227 horsepower 2.0-liter turbo.
