Toyota 4Runner
1987 Toyota 4Runner Specs & Photos
The 1987 Toyota 4Runner rode on the Hi-Trac torsion-bar independent front suspension that replaced the solid axle in 1986. The 116 hp 22R-E four was standard, and the turbocharged 22R-TE, rated at 135 hp, stayed on the option sheet for its final regular year. All 1987s remained two-doors with the removable fiberglass top; a fixed steel roof did not arrive until the 1990 redesign.
The 1987 Toyota 4Runner is part of the First-Gen 4Runner generation (1984–1989). See the full Toyota 4Runner 1984–1989 registry →
