The 1992 Toyota 4Runner sat mid-run in the second generation, with the 116 hp 22R-E four or 150 hp 3.0L 3VZ-E V6 driving through torsion-bar IFS and a coil-sprung solid rear axle. The 3VZ-E's head-gasket failures were common enough that Toyota later ran an extended replacement campaign on these trucks, so documented repair history matters on V6 examples. Both engines were offered with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic.
