The 1993 Toyota 4Runner continued the second generation with the 116 hp 22R-E four or the 150 hp 3.0L 3VZ-E V6, each available with a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic. The chassis stayed torsion-bar IFS up front with a coil-sprung solid rear axle, the layout that makes 1990-1995 trucks a common base for budget lift builds. Part-time 4WD with a two-speed transfer case remained the 4x4 drivetrain.
