The 1995 Toyota 4Runner ended the second generation and was the last 4Runner offered with the 22R-E, the fuel-injected 2.4 that had powered the line since 1985. The 150 hp 3.0L 3VZ-E V6 also made its final appearance before the 3.4L 5VZ-FE replaced it in the 1996 redesign. Torsion-bar IFS and the coil-sprung solid rear axle carried over one last time; the 1996 truck moved to coil springs at all four corners and rack-and-pinion steering.
