The 2005 Toyota Tundra received the first generation's largest powertrain update. A 4.0-liter 1GR-FE V6 rated at 245 horsepower replaced the 3.4, the 4.7-liter i-Force V8 gained VVT-i and a 282-horsepower rating, and a five-speed automatic replaced the old four-speed. V6 trucks could also be ordered with a six-speed manual.
