' notch on the shift fork. 3. Remove the three screws attachmg the turn sngnal 3. Place a socket on the outside diameter othhe unit to the upper flange. Remove the screw attaching the transmission indicator light and remove the light. Remove the turn signal assembly and wiring harness. 4- 4. Remove the snap ring from the steering shaft. 5. Slide the steering column assembly off the steering shaft. 6. Remove the two nuts in the upper flange to separate the upper flange from the lower flange. Remove bolts. Note the position of the upper flange 7- in relation to the lower flange. 8. 7. With a punch and light hammer, gently tap the bearing out of the upper flange. 9. 8. Remove the lower flange and shift tube from the steering column assembly. Remove spring and wave 10. washer from shift tube. bearing. Gently tap the bearing into the upper flange. Install upper flange on lower flange so connecting bolt holes are in proper position. Install nut and bolt assemblies and tighten. Slide column assembly over steering shaft. Install snap ring in groove on the steering column shaft. Slide wiring harness through hole in upper flange. Position turn signal assembly and transmission indicator light. Install and tighten screws. Install hand shift lever in position and drive in retaining pin. Screw in turn signal lever.
