I guess the old saying is true: the 3rd time's the charm.  JBG finally got a rear driveshaft to me that fits.  I wish they had used the later-style slip joint with more splines & an accordion boot, but I guess this is as good as I'm gonna get.  The t-case & axle flanges are freshly cleaned, and after this paint dries, I'll clean it off the slip joint so it doesn't affect the seal.

16.25" between welds
~29.75" collapsed between end u-joints

UPDATE: It blew apart a year later, so I ordered an all-new one from Tom Woods, which now has a few years on it and is working perfectly.
