Clean, repair, and lubricate all parts as needed, then reassemble in reverse order.

If the boots are damaged, large balloons can be substituted. Cut a large hole in one for the pin shaft, and a small slit in the other as a drain for the lower end, then stretch their mouths over the shift lever where the zip ties were.
