I had to make a quick run to Nashville to pick up a junkyard Toyota axle one Saturday, but the truck started making a nasty screech during deceleration about an hour into the trip. I assumed it was the smog pump, so I picked up a replacement at another junkyard. On the way back (after blowing a trailer tire), I lost drive. Even after dropping the rear d'shaft & putting it in 4H. Turns out the t-case had leaked dry, and grenaded. So after waiting 2 hours for him to arrive, I rode 2 hours home with a really-friendly tow-truck driver from a town near my home.

UPDATE: After 2 months, I still haven't mustered up the courage to look inside that t-case.
