The 2001 Buick Regal continued the fourth-generation, front-wheel-drive W-body as a four-door sedan in LS and GS trims. The LS carried the naturally aspirated 3800 Series II V6 (231 cubic inch, 3.8L, L36) at 200 horsepower, while the GS used the supercharged L67 version rated at 240 hp and 280 lb-ft, routed through a 4T65-E four-speed automatic (a heavy-duty version in the GS). This was a mid-generation carryover year with the same powertrain lineup as the surrounding model years.
