Ford Explorer
2001 Ford Explorer Specs & Photos
The 2001 Ford Explorer was the final model year of the second-generation four-door and the last year for the 5.0-liter V8. The four-door dropped the overhead-valve 4.0-liter V6, leaving the single-overhead-cam 4.0-liter V6 and the 5.0-liter V8. In 2001 Ford announced a further tire replacement program tied to the Firestone controversy. The third-generation Explorer arrived for 2002 with a 4.6-liter V8, a wider track, and a new independent rear suspension.
The 2001 Ford Explorer is part of the Second-Generation Explorer (1995-2001) generation (1995–2001). See the full Ford Explorer 1995–2001 registry →
