The 1994 Ford F-150 gained its most significant equipment change of the generation: a standard driver-side airbag, a center high-mount stop lamp above the rear window, and side-door intrusion beams. The engine lineup, the 300-cubic-inch (4.9L) inline-six plus the 5.0L and 5.8L V8s, was retuned around this model year, which is why published horsepower figures differ between the early and later years. The SVT Lightning continued for 1994 with its tuned 5.8L (351 Windsor) V8.
