Ford Pinto

1973 Ford Pinto Specs & Photos

The 1973 Ford Pinto was a carryover of the subcompact, offered as a two-door sedan, three-door Runabout hatchback, and two-door station wagon. It gained federally mandated 5-mph front bumpers this year, adding a heavier front bar ahead of the 1974 rear-bumper requirement. The 1.6 L (98 cu in) Kent inline-four and the 2.0 L (122 cu in) overhead-cam inline-four were the engine choices, with 1973 the last year for the 1.6 L before the 2.3 L Lima inline-four arrived for 1974. A four-speed manual was standard with a three-speed automatic optional.
