The 1975 Ford Pinto carried the subcompact into its fifth year, sold as a two-door sedan, three-door Runabout hatchback, and two-door station wagon. The 2.3 L (140 cu in) Lima overhead-cam inline-four was the standard engine, and a German-built 2.8 L (171 cu in) Cologne V6 was newly optional this year. Catalytic converters were added for 1975, requiring unleaded fuel. A four-speed manual was standard with a three-speed automatic optional, and 1975 marked the U.S. introduction of the badge-engineered Mercury Bobcat twin.
