The 1979 Ford Pinto received a second front-end restyle, shared with the Mercury Bobcat, featuring a slanted nose with rectangular headlamps and inboard vertical parking lamps. Body styles remained the two-door sedan, three-door Runabout hatchback, station wagon, and porthole-windowed Cruising Wagon. The 2.3 L (140 cu in) Lima overhead-cam inline-four was standard and the 2.8 L (171 cu in) Cologne V6 was optional, the V6's final year before it was dropped for the 1980 model year. A four-speed manual was standard with a three-speed automatic optional.
