The 2000 Ford Ranger was the final model year for the 2.5 four-cylinder and the 4.0 OHV Cologne V6 before the 2001 engine modernization. The 3.0 Vulcan V6 continued as the mid-range engine. The 2000 Ranger 4x4 used the short-and-long-arm independent front suspension introduced for 1998.
